N.Z.E.I. Ball Held In Christchurch

About 730 guests attended the North Canter* bury branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute’s sixteenth annual ball at the Winter Garden last evening. The new approach to mathematics was the theme of the decorations in recognition of the position of the president (Mr E. N. Penlington), who is mathematics adviser to schools. Heaton Intermediate pupils constructed numerous multicoloured geometric shapes which were displayed In the ballroom. Conical shapes held the candles on the supper tables. Posters depicting school life surrounded the alcoves and many floral arrangements and coloured balloons completed the scene. Members of the committee who organised the ball were: —chairman, Mr B. R.
