The Unequal Burden Of Rates

Sir, —It is generally recognised that - our elected representatives on the City Council and the members of the National Govetnment are people well able to pay their rates even, if they spiral considerably higher. Therefore, these people have little sympathy with the many aged who are finding this a struggle. A citizens tax has been suggested, but there is no action. There seems to be a conspiracy of silence from the people who are able to change this undesirable state of affairs. Can we not have at the very least, some comment from them?—Yours, etc., ACTION STATIONS. June 17, 1969.
