Belfast bad no answer to the speed and polish of the University back-line. Alter only 10 minutes,University-had soared, is points, but Belfast fought back with more effective tackling to bold the half-time score to 19-3. In the opening period of the second spell Belfast was a much improved Ade and attacked more frequently. D. Burney, at first five-eighths, was often prominent and a brilliant break of his resulted in McFadden’s try. As the half wore on University re-established mastery and was able to add three more tries, bringing its total for the match to eight. Joseph’s try was the best of the game. He accelerated brillantly through a bemused Belfast defence to score near the posts. However, the most impressive of the University backs was the centre, Jones, who displayed fine judgment in running his wings into position. The University pack played with excellent understanding whereas the Belfast forwards worked too much as individuals K. Milau waa possibly the best ef the Belfast forwards. He bunted the loose ball tirelessly and was prominent In the line•uts. Referee: Mr K. Orsbourn.
