Fuel Burner Dangers

The public should be told of the dangers associated with fuel burning installations, and of the need to get approval from insurance companies, said the dangerous goods inspector (Mr J. F. Davidson) in a report to the Lyttelton Borough Council on Monday night, commenting on the implications of an amendment to the Dangerous Goods Regulations. Mr Davidson said dangers could arise through installations not being inspected annually, as deterioration could create hazards. Insurance companies were going to make much closer inspections and were prepared to increase premiums by onethird if work was not done to their satisfaction, he said. His report was referred to the by-laws committee for possible suggestions on regulations concerning installation and inspection.
