EXTENSIONS APPROVED

Marshland Rd Bakery Brooklyn Bakeries, Ltd, was given town-planning approval by the Waimairi County Council last evening to erect extensions to its bakehouse at 206 Marshland Road. A condition was that no signs be put on any of the buildings, or more signs erected on the land.

In other decisions, arising from the public hearing of applications on April 23, permission was given for a new lay-out for the service station of Ham Services, Ltd, at the corner of Ham and Clyde Roads, a condition being that the council reserve the right to close the Clyde Road access at any time. Mr B. Hopperus-Buma. was refused permission to strip topsoil and shingle from land at 300 Gardiners Road to expose silt The council felt that the soil exposed would not be more fertile than the topsoil, that the excavation could affect adjoining land and could possibly leave the land laid waste.
