Planning For Sports

A report which the Christchurch Regional Planning Authority is preparing on the development of sports facilities on a metropolitan basis should provide a guide for planning in the county, the Waimairi County Council was told last evening. The council, which had asked the authority for the report, set up a sub-committee comprising Crs I. Calvert, A. A. Adcock and F. J. Aitken to study the report when it is received. The sub-committee was also authorised to make an early investigation of swimming facilities, the request for the report stemming originally from consideration of the Papanui Amateur Swimming Club’s appeal for money and the council’s feeling that it should know more about over-all needs.
