Strike Law Delayed

(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright)

LONDON, May 13.

The Government last night forestalled a collision with its most powerful backers, the trade unions, by delaying presentation of its controversial anti-strike laws. After nearly three hours of tough taking with the 40 Trades Union Congress leaders, the Prime Minister (Mr Harold Wilson) and his Employment and Productivity Minister (Mrs Barbara Castle) failed to heal the division in the Labour movement over the plans. But they did agree to postpone publication of them until next month, instead of immediately as originally intended, to give time for a possible compromise formula to be hammered out.
