Tutor To Help Apprentices
A tutor to assist apprentices with their studies is o be engaged by the Canter bury Boilermakers* Union. This derision was made by the union at its annual meeting yesterday. The secretary (Mr A Cormack) Mid that many apprentices had found great difficulty with correspondence assignments sent to them from Wellington. It was only in the first year of apprenticeship that boys were given personal instructions. A tutor would be sought from the engineering profession and his fees would be met by the union. Mr Cormaek said the union was at present subsidising the tutorial expenses of an apprentice In Christchurch, The union hoped that employers would support the tutorial system beetuse it would provide a more skilled trades-
