COACHING SCHOOL

Hockey Assn Decision

A national coaching school for hockey players available to take part in the proposed tour to Australia in August will be held at Queen’s Birthday weekend.

This was decided at last evening’s meeting of the management committee of the New Zealand Hockey Association. The meeting favoured Christchurch for the school, but because of possible transport and accommodation difficulties at Queen’s Birthday week-end it was decided to make further investigations before deciding on a venue.

It was agreed to ask the national hockey selectors (Mr I. D. Armstrong and R. H. MacKinlay) to make any additions or deletions they may wish to the squad which took part in the national coaching school In Christchurch at Easter. After some discussion a motion limiting the school to players available to tour Australia was passed unanimously. It was also decided to Inform the members of the squad that Inclusion in the touring team would mean a financial commitment of "not less than 9100 and not more than stso.” A recommendation from the coaching sub-committee to hold a school for msjor district coaches in Christchurch on June 8 was approved.
