13 ATHLETES NOMINATED

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Thirteen New Zealand athletes have been nominated to repre* sent the British Commonwealth

against the United States and Russia in a contest in the United States.

The nominations were approved at last evening’s meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association’s management committee. The nomina-

tions now go forward to the area representative for submission for final selection.

The athletes nominated are:— R. Tait (discus), L. Mills (shot put), R. Maddaford (5000 and 10,000 metres), D. Quax (1500 metres), K. Ross (800 metres), D. Norris (long jump and triple jump), R. Thomas (long jump), R. Williams (decathlon), Miss P. Haworth (100 and 200 metres), Mrs S. Potts (400 and 800 inetres). Miss P. Kenny (High jump), Miss D. Charteris (shot put and discus), Miss B. Poulsen (shot put).
