Commonwealth Games
Sir.—Mr Barrett will have to do better than just making an assertive statement on the need for swimming facilities for the Commonwealth Games. At the moment it looks like a poorly disguised attempt to increase swimming facilities in Christchurch at the City Council’s expense. Certainly such an increase would be an improvement. But is such an improvement necessary? Do we need a completely new pool to get the Games? Perhaps Mr Barrett could this time give iis his reasons.—Yours, etc., K. A. E. FRANCIS. May 6, 1969.
