FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A cold front will move across the North Island during the morning but will be weak; a slow-moving anticyclone over the central Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the South Island. Forecast: Canterbury and Kaikoura coast.—Fresh, cold south-westerlies with a few scattered | showers this morning, otherwise partly cloudy; winds decreasing and becoming variable away from the coasts during the day. Central Marlborough, Marlborough Sounds and Nelson.—Moderate variable winds, southerlies predominating about Cook Strait; some cloudy areas at first; becoming generally fine, although cool; some frost areas tonight inland.
