MT HERBERT STAFF
Criticism By Councillor
“I don’t know just what the staff does. I know the men do a lot of running about,” said Cr C. C. Manson at a meeting of the Mount Herbert County Council yesterday. Jobs were outstanding and there were always excuses, he said. Jobs arose that were urgent and had to be attended to, but more could be done with the manpower available. "That’s a matter for the foreman to produce better results,” said Cr Manson. “We, could do better." The chairman (Mr E. R. Radcliffe) said that the works committee controlled the staff and if enough work was not being done, the committee should discuss it The council had to regard as reasonable the explanation that urgent work had stopped a priority job.
