FEES FOR MUSIC
Teachers To Charge More
The Federation of Societies of Registered Music Teachers has recommended that its members increase their tuition fees.
It has suggested a charge of $l6 for 10, 40-minute lessons for teachers with minimum qualifications in their first year of teaching and that teachers with higher qualifications be entitled to charge a higher fee. The president of the Christchurch society, Mr W. Woodley, said teachers and schools where private music teachers were employed, who worked on the basis of a different number of weeks in a term, should adjust fees accordingly.
For instance, 10 lessons of one-hour duration would be $24, and so each hour of tuition might be charged at the rate of 82.40, he said. All registered teachers of music were expected to comply with this recommendstion, Mr Woodley said.
