FLOODLIT JUMPING

Large Entry For Show

After the success of last year’s experimental venture, a second “day-and-night” carnival will be held tomorrow at the Loburn Domain, the only venue in Canterbury where jumping events are staged under floodlights. Many of the top horses in the South Island will be competing, and the total number of about 380 entries makes

this the largest horse show in North Canterbury this season.

The Grand Prix, which will begin at 7 p.m, and the event for A and C grade horses, will be jumped under floodlights, which have been erected around a central arena.

Among the entries in the latter event are Avapark, ridden by I. Knox (Fairlie), Miss A. Peddie (Jubilee and Blue Mist), from Timaru, Miss 'J. Cresswell (Christchurch) on Geelong, Mrs A. F. McCully’s Delmont Lad from Te- - rnuka, and Mrs R. R. Bain ' (Loburn) with Harvest Moon. The carnival is being organised by the Loburn Domain new pavilion committee, for a new sports pavilion in the domain. The committee has raised about $3OOO.
