Leaving Lagos

It is reported in London that Britain’s High Commissioner in Lagos (Sir David Hunt) is to be relieved of his post in the next few months.

The normal tour of duty in such an African posting is about one year, and Sir David Hunt has completed nearly two. Since his appointment he has borne all the responsibility of advising Britain on the Nigerian civil war. He has been a keen supporter of the Federal cause, for which he has been criticised in some political quarters in Britain.
