Games coach, Mr M. A. I Doidge, and has mapped out a programme of winter work Ito be followed in the Mount Eden indoor pool. I She has been in retirement for the last three seasons, following her greatest triumphs at the 1966 national meeting ~in Napier. In the under-16 i section she beat the future Olympic swimmers. Misses G. iJ. Stirling and S. A. Whittleiston, to win the gold medals jfor the 110 yd backstroke and the 110 yd butterfly, respectively. Throughout her career, Miss Halsey was trained by Mr V. T. Parkhouse, first at Cambridge and later in Christchurch. She was in the 1964 [New Zealand team in Australia. Miss Halsey’s return will help strengthen women’s backstroke, which is notable for its lack of depth at present.

Selectors. — Auckland has nominated Messrs C. M. Kay and J. C. McManemin for the positions of Olympic and Commonwealth Games selectors. At present the three selectors are Messrs W. J. Hollie (Wellington). R. O. Johnston (Otago) and P. N. Robinson (Wellington).
