Malcolm Avenue Bridge

Sir,—The Malcolm Avenue bridge is a death-trap. The concrete corners on the bridge are so high and long that people coming out of Hunter Terrace and Waimea Terrace cannot see the traffic, and many accidents have occurred on the bridge. 1 think the blocks of concrete should be changed to wood or steel bars.—Yours, etc., EXPERIENCED CYCLIST. March 14, 1969.

[The City Engineer (Mr P. G. Scoular) replies: “The Malcolm Avenue bridge is due for replacement in a few years. In the meantime the possibility of altering the end walls to improve visibility will be investigated. I should like to thank your correspondent for drawing our attention to this.”]
