Glass Hazards

Sir,—Might I appeal to the brewing companies to increase the resale value of beer bottles? It is becoming Increasingly hazardous for children to play at picnic spots and recreation areas of all kinds because of broken glass. It would seem that in spite of the new anti-litter laws, the irresponsible few can make the loveliest parts of New Zealand unsafe for everybody. Surely, if other types of battles with a higher resale value are rarely left or broken, it would be reasonable to assume that the same thing would occur if the resale value of beer bottles were higher.—Yours, etc., M.S.S. March 16, 1969.
