TROTTING Mid-Canterbury Stables Have Chance In Double

Shiloh and Deep Impression will give Mid-Canterbury stables a great chance of success in the on-course concession double at the Cheviot Trotting Club’s annual meeting at Addington Raceway tomorrow.

Shiloh and Pun, winners in maiden company at Hororata last Saturday, will have a great chance in the first leg, the Spotswood Handicap. Shiloh was particularly impressive at Hororata where he was forced over much extra ground. If he races as generously at Rangiora, he should win. Pun, a half-brother to Atanui, was equally impressive when he gained a runaway win at Hororata. He needs a win to be eligible for the S3OOO Challenge Stakes at Addington Raceway on April 5. Sheer Delight, another in that category, is also a laststart winner, having been successful at Washdyke last month. She looks a likely youngster and should again take beating. Country Martial, Bobo, Prince Forbes and Dryden Frances appeal most of the remainder.

Deep Impression was an unlucky fifth at Hororata and he will need very little more

in his favour in the running to win the Our Thorpe Handicap. Light Globe, a place-getter at Hororata, looks to be close to winning form and she, too, should be prominent. Sovereign Lady, Linda Lee, Scottish Barry and Van’s Choice are others expected to add interest to the finish. The T.A.B. double will be run on the Cheviot Cup and the Rangiora Handicap, Jacquinot Bay and True Averil forming a likely combination.
