DEMAND FOR TELEPHONES
A heading in “The Press” yesterday, “Demand for Telephones Falls,” was misleading, the Regional Engineer of the Post Office (Mr H. W. Wilkinson) said last evening It conveyed that the demand for telephones was falling now, he said. It was true that the demand fell last year, but in the first two months of this year there had been a notable increase, he said. If the headline had read “demand for telephones fell”, it would have been correct, bub “demand for telephones rises” would have conveyed the true position.
