Intersections
Sir,—We continually hear of accidents occurring at intersections in Christchurch, which incidentally is reputed to have the most intersections of any city in New Zealand. The majority of these are controlled either by traffic lights or “Give Way” or “Stop" signs. But surely something could be done about uncontrolled intersections. For the benefit of many visitors to Christchurch and other drivers who are unfamiliar with the streets of the city could not some type of warning sign be erected oh approaching the intersection, such as those used on country roads? Or perhaps some other indication to enable the driver to slow down on approaching an intersection, particularly where some cross streets are a little obscure.—Yours, etc., L. M. K. March 10, 1969.
