DUBLIN UNREST

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) DUBLIN, Jan. 22.

Scattered demonstrations in Dublin yesterday marked the 50th anniversary of the Irish Republic’s first Parliament.

Two thousand shouting students forced their way through a police cordon and occupied the science building at the city’s university college for two hours.

They had earlier marched to the general post office in the middle of Dublin to hold a silent meeting in protest against the recent arrests of members of the Dublin Housing Action Committee, demonstrating on behalf of homeless families.

Earlier today, five people were arrested when President De Valera attended a special Mass at the city’s Roman Catholic Cathedral.
