LEBHAC (West Germany), Jan. 22. West Germany yesterday called Interpol into the investigation of the
attack on an Army munitions dump in which three paratroopers were shot dead and two seriously wounded.
But the Chief Prosecutor i in Karlsruhe (Mr Siegfried Bu- ; back) said that this did not mean the investigators had firm clues pointing to the involvement of foreigners. ; West German television last ; night screened a police identikit picture of one of the two men believed to be re- ; sponsible for the assault. The ! picture showed a young man : with fair hair brushed I straight forwards, a thin face and a small moustache. The Federal Prosecutor (Mr Ludwig Martin), who is leading inquiries into the case, said today that the attack appeared to be a simple criminal assault. The Defence Minister (Mr l Gerhard Schroeder) announced that I is Ministry was off-i
ering a reward of $10,715 to anyone who gave information leading to the arrest of the killers. Mr Martin said the sergeant in charge, Edwin Poh, aged 21, had been shot dead through the back of the head. Lance Corporal Dieter Horn, aged 21, and Corporal Arno Bales, aged 27, had died from shots in the heart, according to post-mortem investigations. The weapons used by the killers were probably pistols, said Mr Buback. A hospital spokesman said the two wounded men remained in very serious condition. Lance Corporal Ewald Marx, aged 20, who was shot itwice in the head, underwent . surgery and was still unconi scious today.
