Highland Flight In Fast Mile Win
CAMBRIDGE. Highland Flight beat a strong field of trotters In the McMillan Trotting Free-for-all, the first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Cambridge Trotting Club’s meeting last night. Highland Flight’s time of 2min 4 4-ssec is a new track record.
Highland Flight was always in the first three and took control from the pacemaker, Break Through, on the home turn. In the last furlong he fought off a determined challenge from Mountain Pride, which finished fast from the ruck, with Break Through weakening to third. Single Cash ran fourth after being last early. He mounted a strong run in the middle stages but seemed to have little in reserve over the concluding part of the event. Petite Polly led in the rest after trailing the leader for most of the journey. The second leg of the double, the Windsor Memorial, was won by Johnny Dancer and the double paid $55.50 for $l.
