The Commonwealth Conference
Sir,—As a Commonwealth man of the old school I sincerely hope that this year will see the last of the farcical Commonwealth of Nations conferences. These meetings show up the flaws in majority rule, for out of the 28 countries concerned only Britain, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand can be called bona fide members of this organisation. This minority group, through their great sacrifices in two world wars, are mainly responsible for the freedom now enjoyed by a backward majority, but this fact will count for nothing when the working policy is discussed and voted on. The British withdrawal from South-East Asia is of more importance to the few than the Rhodesian problem, which is Moscow’s worry, but because of majority rule the "regulars” must now submit to this Com-munist-inspired blackmail of working to an approved agenda by the interloper States to the detriment of the new Commonwealth.—Yours, etc., X.U.K.
