Jay Ribbon Impressive

"The Press" Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Jay Ribbon was impressive at Awapuni yesterday morning when he worked freely in preparation for tomorrow’s Pahiatua Cup at Woodville. Jay Ribbon has taken no harm from his race in the Auckland Cup and his easy victory over Gymkhana yesterday shows he could show the necessary improvement later this week. Jay Ribbon worked over a mile on the trial grass and coasted away from Gymkhana over the last three furlongs. He ran the mile in Imin 45sec, and the last three furlongs very easily in 41sec. He could have gone faster and it was pleasing work. B. s. Dodds will ride him this week.

Highbrow was too good for Syreno at the end of seven furlongs in Imin 39 l-ssec, the last three keenly in 39 l-ssec. Highbrow has been racing well and he looks an excellent prospect for the Makuri Handicap tomorrow.
