Grants For Research

Research grants totalling $6900 for the coming year approved by the Minister of! Forests (Mr Maclntyre) were' received at yesterday’s meeting of the Lincoln College Council.

The sum of $4OO was granted to Professor T. M. Morrison for continuation of Mr T. C. Reid’s research on the nitrogen economy of gorse and broom in connection with the Nelson tree nutrition problem. Dr A. P. Mulcock has been granted $2OOO for the continuation of Mr M. J. Noonan’s study of microbiological activity in Moutere soils. The sum of $5OO has been granted to Professor T. W. Walker for the completion of Mr J. A. Adam’s research into nutrition disorders in radiata pine stands in Nelson. Research studies- into soft rot fungi will be aided by $2OOO granted to Dr R. F. R. McNabb.

The sum of $2OOO was granted to Professor Morrison for pine research by a Ph.D. student
