MAIL FROM OVERSEAS

Late Delivery Possible Some overseas mail which has just arrived in New Zealand waters may not be delivered fqr Christmas. The Deputy Chief Postmaster in Christchurch (Mr J. Malthus) said yesterday that the Hartford, carrying 5500 bags of mail, would berth at Wellington today. A large section of the cargo would have to be discharged before the mail could be unloaded, and it could be early next week before the 600 bags of parcels and 150 bags of other mail reached Christchurch. Another ship, the Pipiriki, berthed at Auckland yesterday, although it reached the harbour several days ago. The ship was ordered to unload ammunition before berthing. Mail for Christchurch from the Pipiriki may also be delivered late.
