Outdoor Carols More than 100 persons gathered in the Tai Tapu Domain last evening for the annual service of nine lessons and carols held by St Mark’s Presbyterian Church, Upper Riccarton. This was the first time the service has been held in the domain. The service was conducted by the two ministers at St Mark’s, the Revs A. Ross and I. Pierce. A portable organ was used for accompaniments. Before the service at 6 p.m. parishioners had a barbecue which began at 4.30 p.m. In The Lead Mr N. Thomas (Temuka) is leading in the M. A. Cameron Cup contest for the heaviest salmon caught in Temuka district rivers, having landed an 181 b fish in the Rangitata River. The lead in the Gilby Cup event for the heaviest trout is held by Mr C. Lynn (Beautiful Valley) who caught a 101 b trout in the Rangitata recently.—(F.O.O.R.)
