Pledges Of $BOOO
When the telephone appeal to raise money far the Roh Moore memorial appeal for the “Blue Skies” seout training centre ended yesterday more than $BOOO had been pledged and the total might be between $12,000 and $15,000, said the appeal organiser (Mr J. R. Young) last evening.
Mr Young said that more than- 12,000 telephone calls had been made to raise money for the appeal. In addition to the definite promises amounting to $BOOO, there had been an almost equal number of promissory notes, but these were of no set amounts. These, though, could raise the total to more than $12,000. Mr Young said he was delighted with the response, and everyone had been most willing to give. There were numerous promises of amounts of $lO and $25. Among the larger amounts pledged on Thursday and yesterday were: G. L. Bowron and Company, Ltd, $100; International Harvester Company, $500; Beets Floor Sanding, Ltd, $100; Calder Mackay Company, Ltd, $100; E. J. Corcoran and Son, Ltd, $100; Canterbury Malting Company, Ltd, $5O; Miller Trust, $2OO.
