(N.Z.P.A.-Reuler —Copyright) KIMBERLEY.
The touring New Zealand bowls team beat Griqualand West, 2-1, winning the singles and pairs, but losing the fours. The match, played in hot, sunny weather was a triumph for the New Zealand singles player, P. E. B. Jones, who avenged his three earlier defeats of the tour by beating the local champion, R. Gloak, 22-12.
Gloak played outstanding bowls in the early ends to lead 6-1, but after peeling on the ninth. Jones’s superlative drawing took him ahead to his convincing victory. C. Simon and P. C. Skoglund proved too good for a local pair, A. and J. Waddington, beating them 24-12. Simon, who played skip, controlled his deliveries beautifully. The fours s'core was 19-15.
