BASKETBALL THREAT

AUCKLAND.
If fees for senior men’s basketball teams are not lowered to $3 by the national body at the annual meeting in Wellington on February 22, the Auckland Men’s Basketball Association will disaffiliate.
This was made clear by the chairman of the Auckland association (Mr E. Doherty) on Monday night.
The Auckland association has been under suspension from the New Zealand association since early August because the Auckland leagues did not pay their affiliation fees, which they felt were too high. Terms Agreed
At a management meeting of the New Zealand association attended by Auckland delegates on October 9, the national body laid down affiliation terms to which Auckland later agreed. Their terms were:— To lift the suspension on Auckland and Whangarei if they paid 84 a senior team and $1 for other teams, compared with the $7.50 and 81.50 which had been asked. The above was to apply only; if Auckland and Whanga-i rei gave a written under-; taking to pay the balance of fees no later than 5 p.m. on February 21. 1969.
The secretary of the Auckland association (Mr T; Robinson) said: “When we pay the full 1968 fee we will not have enough money left for the 1969 season unless the fees are lowered.”
