New Fire Siren At Port

The Lyttelton Volunteer Fire Brigade, which has used an oscillating fire alarm for many years, will be asked to convert to a continuous siren to summon its members. The Fire Service Council advised the Christchurch Metropolitan Fire Board that to avoid confusion with civil defence warnings fire sirens should be continuous. Civil defence warnings would be five-second soundings with a five-second interval.
