More People Leaving N.Z. Than Arriving
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 14. More people are leaving New Zealand than arriving, according to statistics released today by the Government Statistician (Mr J. V. T. Baker).
For the period April to I September of this year, there were 4918 more people) who left the country permanently than arrived. i For the same period the) previous year the situation I was the other way round—[
(then 3700 more people arI rived than left. [ Contributing to the change I have been falls of 4395 in i non-assisted imigrants and ) 1848 in assisted immigrants. j There was also a rise of [2375 in recorded permanent departures. When all classes of civilian I migration were taken into ac- [ count, there was a net outflow of 15,060 people.
The net outflows for the first half of preceding March years were 1967, 11,457; 1966, 2304: 1965, 1413; and 1964, 1431.
