Civil Defence Talks

Five members of the Christchurch Civil Defence Committee will attend the civil defence controllers’ conference at Lincoln College next week. The purpose of the meeting is to study the lessons learned from practical experience during the Southland floods and the West Coast earthquakes. The Christchurch committee members who will attend are Mr D. H. Warren, chairman of the Paparua County Council: Mr M. B. Hayes, Christchurch Town Clerk: Mr J. F. Moffat, the group controller; Mr K. Stills, Heathcote c.ounty clerk; and Mr R. A. E. Upston. Riccarton Borough engineer. Mr J. Forrer, the new Civil Defence officer, will be on the

directing staff for the conference.
