Millie Small May Not Race Again
Bacing has probably seen the last of the courageouo Millie Small. Mr T. I. Smith scratched her from the New Zealand Cup yeoterday morning and said later that he intended to enter her for the mixed thoroughbred sale at Trentham in January. What is thought to be ligament trouble cost Millie Small a etart in the cup. She was banging towards the
middle of the track in her winning run in the main race at the Banks Penlneula meeting and it is believed that she was being bothered by the leg ailment which put a cup start out of the question. That she still managed to beat Takanini’s Proud Chief, now the likely New Zealand Cup favourite, epoke volumes for her courage. It seemo now that Millie Small has ended her racing career as she started it—with a win at Motukarara.
She made her successful race debut at the Banks Peninsula meeting three years ago. As a member of the Limelight family, so a relation of Galilee. Fox Myth, Some Time and other big winners, Millie Small could come in for strong competition if she is offered at auction at Trentham.
