Silver Won By N.Z. Woman

The only woman in the New Zealand team, Mrs E. Rimmer, of Edgecumbe, Bay of Plenty, won the silver medal in the 50 metres free-style swimming at the Paraplegic Games yesterday. She clocked Imin 34.25ec—--21.1sec slower than the winner, Miss J. Ailes (United States).

In other swimming events, N. Brown (Auckland) was fourth in the 25 metres freestyle, J. Stott (Invereargill) came fifth in the heats but did not qualify for the final of the 25 metres backstroke, and in the same event, R. Wright (Auckland) was second in his heat and sixth in the final.

Australian competitors won gold medals in three sections of the wheelchair obstacle events—R. Mclntyre, B. Moretti and A. McLucas. It also took silver medals in two of these events: J. Martin was second to Mclntyre and W. Mather-Brown was runner-up to Moretti.

Other gold medal winners came from Britain (five in swimming), United States (two in swimming), the Netherlands (two in swimming) and Italy (one in fencing).
