Dalvui Runs Good Trial
(N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS. Dalvui, the favourite for the President’s Handicap at the Napier Park meeting at Hastings tomorrow, completed his preparation with an impressive gallop over six furlongs yesterday morning.
Ima Martian, which is favourite for the City Handicap, the second leg of the T.A.B. double was let off with easy work. He. is very fit but his trainer, C. J. Cameron, said a run was in doubt.
An appeal by Royal Tudor’s owner, Mr J. M. Paul, against Ima Martian winning the Welter Handicap at Hastings on September 21 will be heard today. Track conditions were ideal. The plough was deep and a little holding. The course proper, where the trestles were the regulation distance out, was fast. The track should be in first class order tomorrow as it carries a thick sole of grass. On the plough Red Suit did steady pacework. She is fit but has been troubled by a seasonal complaint and may not run.
Game (R. B. Marsh) which will contest the City Handicap ran three furlongs in 41sec, a time he could easily have bettered. He is fit and could run a bold race.
Caster (J. T. Anderson) and Hostage (R. B. Marsh) took 52 2-ssec for half a mile, the last three furlongs in 39 2-ssec. Hostage will resume racing in the City Handicap and is fit enough to be prominent for a long way.
