PAPANUI SCHOOL
Plans For Centenary Preparations have begun for the centennial celebrations of the Papanui School, Winters Road, which will be held in 1971.
About 25 former pupils, parents of pupils and friends of the school decided at a meeting last evening that the celebrations should be held on a long week-end in 1971, although, according to the school records, the actual centenary falls on November 18 of that year. A banquet, roll-call and a ball are tentatively planned for the celebrations. Those elected to the starting committee, which will meet again next January after more ground-work has been done in tracing former pupils and setting out possible activities for the week-end, were:—Messrs A. Gregor, F. Smith, J., Biggs, A. Palmer, C. Palmer, M. Rossiter, Mesdames M. Platt, A. Lynch, M. Hooper, E. Vogel, Riley, Dyer, Handley and Underwood and Misses Grimwood and Earnshaw.
