Messrs H. H. Petrie and R. Monk were paid tributes at a meeting of the North Canterbury Catchment Board yesterday. Neither is seeking reelection. Mr Petrie has represented the Eyre and Rangiora counties for 18 years, and Mr Monk has been a Kaiapoi and Rangiora boroughs member since the death of Mr C S Avers in 1966.
Major N. C. Schofield has been appointed director of the Royal Zealand Armoured Corps. He succeeds Lieuten-ant-Colonel C. C. Jordan who is retiring from the Army. Major Schofield’s new appointment carries the rank of lieutenant-colonel. Until recently he has been a senior staff officer for amoured corps affairs at Army Headquarters. He served at the Battalion Depot at Burnham Military Camp before joining the Ist Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment, in Malaysia.
Detective Senior-Sergeant M. Jones, of Christchurch, has been transferred to Napier as officer-in-charge of the C. 1.8. Detective SeniorSergeant Jones joined the police in Dunedin in 1959, and has been stationed in Christchurch since July, 1960. He was promoted to Detective Senior-Sergeant in November, 1965. >
