More Fish Available

Fish supplies, which were extremely short in Christchurch last week, have improved but the shortage could recur.

The managing director of P. Feron and Son, Ltd, fish wholesalers (Mr M. L. Newman) said there had been a good market yesterday. More than 300 cases had been offered and had sold for prices slightly above normal. Another good supply was expected for today’s market, but he said he could not forecast what supplies would be for the week-end. Not only was it necessary for the good weather to continue but it was necessary for the fishing boats to catch fish, he said. It did not depend on the weather alone as there had been some good weather recently.
