Ready-to-wear Collection
(N Z.P.A. Correspondent) LONDON. Sept 13. A touch of the tailoring is clearly evident in garments designed by the Paris couturier. Philippe Venet, whose ready-to-wear collection was shown for the first time in London recently. The clothes, to be sold in major department stores throughout Britain, are aimed at the 25 to 40-year-old woman who would like to wear high fashion clothes but cannot afford it. Prices of the Venet garments range from £24 to £55. The clothes come mainly in gaberdine or crepe—and in dull colours such as biscuits, moss green, blacks and greys. Suits are nearly all doublebreasted, with hip-level jackets, Peter Pan collars and Haired skirts. All were worn with silk scarves, dark brown stockings and stompy shoes.
Crusader Arrives.—A member of the Billy Graham crusade team, Mr H. Holley, has arrived in Auckland to conduct a series of Christian life and witness classes. These are a preview to the crusade whi"h Dr Graham will hold in February.—(P.A.)
