Hopeful Of Action
“I am quite hopeful that after two years’ delay we should have some concrete action on the urban renewal study group’s report,” Cr M. R. Carter, chairman of the property administration committee, said at the City Council meeting last evening. He was commenting on the deputation from the four main centres which met the Minister of Housing (Mr Rae) and the Minister of Works (Mr Allen) urging financial as well a. a legislative and policy commitment from the Government.
The Mayor (Sir George Manning): You could say the deputation stirred up interest from one end of New Zealand to the other.
