Anniversary Of Election

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 16. A photograph of the first New Zealand woman member of Parliament, Mrs E. R. McCombs, was presented to the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk) to mark the anniversary of her election to Parliament on September 13, 1933. The late Mrs McCombs won the Lyttelton seat for Labour. The presentation was made by the president of the Wellington women's branch of the party (Mrs R. Walker). All the present Labour women M.P.’s, Mrs E. E. McMillan (Dunedin North), Mrs I. Ratana (Western Maori), and Mrs T. W. M. Tirikatene-Sulli-van (Southern Maori) attended the presentation.
