UNIVERSITY VACANCIES UNIVERSITY OF CANTERBURY FACULTY OF' FORESTRY SENIOR LECTURERS OR LECTURERS Applications are invited for five positions of Senior Lecturers or Lecturers in the faculty of forestry at this university. Salary attached to the positions is $3OOO x $2OO-$4400 (bar) $4600-$5400. In exceptional cases appointment may be made to a readership at a salary between $5600 and $6600 per annum. For a readership commencing salary may be increased as a result of the review which is made at the beginning of each year. In the case of overseas appointees, salary will normally be paid from an approved date of embarkation. Approved fares to Chri-stchurch will be paid. Applicants shouud hold a suitable degree in forestry or in science, engineering or economics. In particular, specialists are sought in forest economics, tree physiology, wood technology, microbiology, silviculture, and statistics. Applicants should indicate their particular experience and research interests. Christchurch. 3276 UNIVERSITY OF QUEENSLAND CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY CLINICAL STUDIES THE University invites applications for the position of Clinical Instructor at the Pastoral Veterinary Centre,' Goondiwindi. The appointment will be for one year in the first instance. A new three bedroom, unfurnished house will be available for rental. An applicant should possess a registerable degree in veterinary Science, preferably with some experience in general practice. The appointee will work under the immediate direction of the Officer-in-Charge of the Pastoral Veterinary Centre, Goondiwindi, Queensland. He will be required to operate and develop practice with individual large and small animals and take a special interest in surgery. He will have the opportunity to enrol for a higher degree. Applications are especially invited from those with particular interests in algebra, analysis or topology. The successful applicant will be required to deliver such lectures and carry out such other duties as may be required. He should be capable of pursuing independent investigations in his branch of the subject and of assisting in the training of honours and research students. He will be expected to encourage research activity in his own field. (October 11). TEACHING REGISTRAR IN RADIOLOGY Applicants must hold a Medical Degree registerable in Queensland. Applications will be considered from candidates who are holders of a recognised post-graduate qualification in Radiology, or have secured the first part of a diploma in the specialty, or from candidates who do not possess either of these qualifications. The appointee will act as a Registrar within the subDepartment of Radiology of the University at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. The responsibilities of the appointee will be clinical and teaching and investigative as follows: to act as a part-time Registrar in the Radiological Department of one of the teaching hospitals and in the University sub-Depart-ment of Radiology, to undertake such teaching duties as may be allocated. Adequate time will be allowed for post-graduate study. Instruction in diagnostic radiology will be given and there will be opportunity for research. (October 11).
