TOURIST RETURNS
Sorenson In Wheelchair (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. D. P. Sorenson, the New Zealand softball utility player, returned from the United States yesterday in a wheelchair.
A damaged cartilage, injured while he was tiying to catch the first ball in his fourth tour game, was responsible for Sorenson’s return.
As an immediate operation was advised, Sorenson decided that he would come back to New Zealand rather than continue the tour.
The team had been playing reasonably well and batting tremendously, said Sorenson, but silly errors had cost them some games.
“K. Herlihy, W. Massey and G. Tattersfield are pitching well, Tattersfield better than we have ever seen him before,” he said.
Sorenson reported that J. Lowes and E. G. Kohlhase, both of whom had twisted ankles, were now fit.
