(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) NEWCASTLE. The New Zealand youth badminton team defeated Newcastle, 9-2, yesterday, at Broadmeadows stadium. Results were (New Zealand names first):
Men.—J. Compton beat M. Rawlings, 1-15, 15-6, 15-11; B. Purser beat J. Smith, 15-4. 15-3; G. Miller beat R. Wooley, 15-5, 15-4; Compton and Power beat Rawlings and Wooley, 21-8. Women.—Miss R. Glenie beat Mrs J. Began, 11-9, 6-11, 11-4; Miss G. Steel lost to Miss R. Herd. 5-11, 7-11; Miss C. Compton beat Miss A. Smith, 9-12, 11-4, 11-6: Misses Glenie and Steel lost to Mrs Bevan and Miss Herd, 5-21.
Mixed.—Compton and Miss Compton beat Rawlings and Mrs Rawlings, 21-15; Purser and Miss Glenie beat Woley and Mrs Bevan, 2144; Miller and Miss Steel beat Smith and Miss Herd, 21-19.
