Caulfield Cup Acceptances (N.Z. Press Association) MELBOURNE. Proud Chief, with Bst 71b, remained the highest-weighted New Zealand-owned horse in the Caulfield Cup when first acceptances were taken yesterday. The $40,000 cup will be run over one mile and a half at Caulfield on October 19. Prominent New Zealand scratchings from the entries included Jay Ay, Bright Chief, Red Crest, Michael Molloy, and Royal Theme. The Australian weight-for-age champion, Winfreux, is topweight with 9st 21b after the scratchings of Galilee, General Command, Red Handed and Cabachon. The New Zealand-breds, Fulmen and Prince Grant, have Bst 121 b, with Future and Midlander next at Bst 101 b. Prominent New Zealanders left in include Impetus (Bst 51b), Fans, Hamua and Pasa Dobte (all Bst 41b), Feiramor (Bst 31b), and Cyron (Bst 21b). Melbourne Cup first acceptors will be announced later this month.
