(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. A surprise result in yesterday’s play at the New Zealand snooker championships was the defeat of the canterbury player B. Kirkness, by the former Otago junior, F. Dodds. After being down 1-39 in the final frame, Dodds fought back to beat Kirkness, 3 frames to 2. Other results were: G. McCorkindale (Otago) beat B. Bennett (Taranaki), 3-2; M. Kerrell (Otago) beat M. Cornes (Taranaki), 3-1; L. Glozier (Southland) beat C. Scott (Wellington). 3-2; R. Flutey (South Auckland) beat Cornes. 3-0; S. Moffitt (North Otago) beat S. Broadway (South -Auckland). 3-0; L. Naoper (Otago) beat F. Mazzola (Wellington). 3-0; D. Kelly (Taranaki) beat B. Couper (North Otago), 3-2; K. Tristram (Auckland) beat J. Reid (North Otago). 3-1; C. McQuoid (Caster Bay) beat Napper 3-0.
